Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of German Buddy at germanbuddy.ai. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use German Buddy.

1. The service

German Buddy is an online German-learning tool that provides AI writing corrections, speaking and dictation practice, conversation roleplay, vocabulary, and free reference tools. Features may change, improve, or be discontinued over time.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 where a higher minimum age applies in your country) to use German Buddy. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Accounts & authentication

Accounts are created and accessed through Google sign-in. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Google credentials secure.

4. Subscriptions & billing

New accounts include a 7-day free trial of Buddy Plus. After the trial, continued Plus access requires a paid subscription. Subscriptions auto-renew — monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose — until you cancel.

Prices are shown in Indian Rupees (INR) for customers in India, charged via Razorpay, and in US Dollars (USD) for international customers, sold and charged by Stripe as merchant of record — meaning Stripe is the seller for that transaction and is responsible for collecting any applicable sales tax or VAT. You authorise the relevant provider to charge your chosen payment method on each renewal until you cancel. You can cancel anytime; cancellation stops future billing and your access continues to the end of the current paid period.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service: no unlawful, abusive, or infringing content; no attempts to break, overload, scrape at scale, or reverse-engineer the service; and no sharing of your account in a way that circumvents subscription limits.

7. AI-generated content

German Buddy uses AI to generate corrections, examples, and conversation responses. These are practice aids and may contain errors; they are not certified language instruction, examination preparation, or professional advice. Always verify important details independently.

8. Intellectual property

The German Buddy name, logo, software, and original content are owned by us and protected by applicable laws. You retain ownership of the text you submit; you grant us a limited licence to process it to provide the service.

9. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, German Buddy is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above, and continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India.
